DAWSON SET TO RETURN

Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has confirmed that defender and captain Michael Dawson is set to return to the starting line-up for the crucial match against Liverpool during the weekend.

Tottenham will be the visitors to Anfield this weekend looking to avenge the 5-0 defeat they suffered at White Hart Lane earlier in the season. However, they will be going into the match knowing that they have suffered some heavy defeats against top opposition. The most recent 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Chelsea will still be fresh in the memories of Tottenham players.

Dawson has missed the last few matches due to an injury, but he is set to return to the back four to provide much needed experience. Even though he has missed the last four matches, Dawson is expected to be match fit in time for this encounter. Likewise, Sherwood will also welcome Vlad Chiriches back into the squad. The defender has not been part of the team since January due to a back injury. Even though he has returned to the squad, it is looking highly unlikely that he will make it into the starting line-up. As a result, Dawson will be partnered by Kaboul.
Tottenham have managed just one win at Anfield for the last 16 years.

“Vlad has been out for a while and we have to make sure we take our time with him. He’s trained well and he hasn’t felt any reaction to his back. We’re pleased to see him back and we’re looking to drop him back into Friday’s Under-21 game against Arsenal at White Hart Lane. Michael trained at the end of last week as well, we’re pleased with his progress and most of all, delighted we’ve more players from to select from,” said Sherwood, who is widely believed to leave Tottenham in the end of the season.
