DAWSON SAYS HULL CAN BE INSPIRED BY LEICESTER ‘GREAT ESCAPE’

Leicester City’s Surprise achievement in winning their maiden English Premier League crown last season stand as reason to believe anything is now possible in the Premier League.

But for Hull defender, Michael Dawson, it is the foxes’ relegation survival in the previous campaign that will inspire the Tigers for 2017.

Before Leicester first began to upset odds to win the Premier League under Claudio Ranieri last term, they had produced an impressive run to escape relegation to the Championships.

Seven wins from the last nine of the 2014/2015 season saw Nigel Pearson’s side pull themselves out of the foot of the Premier League table and eventually survived at a canter. As a result, it was Hull, then led by Steve Bruce who joined Burnley and QPR in dropping to the second tier.

Leicester City are still one of only three clubs – and the most recent – to have been bottom of the Premier League at Christmas and escaped relegation, and Dawson is refusing to give up hope of the Tigers following suit.
Dawson said: “I look at Leicester a couple of year ago, they give us hope. We were nine points clear and could have gone 12 with another win. Instead, we drew and stayed at nine. Leicester went on to stay up and we went down.”

Although Crystal Palace, who recently sacked Alan Pardew, remain on the same points (16) with the Tigers, a poor run so far has seen City in danger of falling off the pace at the foot of the division. Despite beating Bournemouth a forth night ago, a lot of chances were spurned in a galling 2-0 defeat to Chelsea last time out. Dawson accepts that has to change.

Burnley, Leicester, Middlesbrough and Swansea have all made their way out of trouble with wins in recent weeks, leaving City sandwiched between Crystal Palace and Sunderland in the bottom three.

Michael Dawson is hoping that Hull City can get back on track

Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Hull City are the 3 teams that finished in the bottom relegation spots of the English Premier League during this latest season of 2016-17.

Following Hull City’s relegation, Marcos Silva was sacked from the managerial position of the English club as the Portuguese coach would later take over Watford which was also relegated in that same season.

Suffering relegation and experiencing a change in managers is something that can really affect a football team but Michael Dawson who made 23 appearances for Hull City in this forgettable season has recently popped up and tried to motivate his teammates as the 33 year old English defender said:

‘’Of course everybody, staff and players, is disappointed. It`s been a long, hard slog and this is a sad day. You work hard throughout the season and then get relegated. However, we have to pick ourselves up. We know the Championship. 12 months ago we were getting promoted from it and we have to do that again next season’’

Even though it has been a forgettable season for Hull City and all of it’s players, there is a silver lining for Michael Dawson as he was named as the Tigers’ PFA Community Champion for the 2016/17 season.

The 33 year old defender was recognized for his contributions made outside of the actual pitch and the veteran player had a few things to say after accepting the award as Dawson said:

‘’It`s a really great achievement for myself because I love doing work with the community, whether it be at a school, hospital or charities that are in partnership with the football club. I feel honored to be recognized for the time I spend outside of football in the community’’

Michael Dawson Calls for Focus Ahead of Tricky Fixtures

Hull City defender Michael Dawson has warned his teammates against the threat of relegation despite the club managing to get itself out of the drop zone following three wins in the last five games.

Wins over Swansea City, West Ham, and Middlesbrough helped the club get away from the bottom three of the Premier league, where they have been positioned for much of the season. After the appointment of Marco Silva, there has been a tremendous swing in results. Even though the club have been able to pull themselves out of the relegation zone, Dawson says that it is still too early for the players to get carried away with recent results.

The club have a tough period coming up with just one home game in the next four matches. Hull City are up against Manchester city, Stoke City, and Southampton on the road.

There is every possibility that the club could suffer a defeat in all these three games. The club has managed just one point in the way games since October. A huge reason behind the club’s upturn in form has been home games. Hull City are undefeated in the last seven games at the KCOM stadium. Dawson has called for the players to focus ahead of the trip to the Etihad stadium in order to face Manchester City.

“It’s been a long time since we’ve been out of the bottom three so it’s nice, but it’s about being out of the bottom three at the end of May. We won’t get carried away. We’ll look forward to each game with everything riding on it. We knew it was a big week but like the manager said, we know it wasn’t down to these two games. There’s plenty more points to play for,” said Dawson, who recently made a return from injury.

Dawson still believes in Hull City

Hull City captain Michael Dawson said that the squad remains positive and that they will not give up the fight.

The club has been struggling all season and is currently in the relegation places at the bottom of the Premier League.

Michael Dawson said that the players are positive and they want to believe that they can remain in the Premier League at the end of the season. He admitted that the club has been suffering on and off the pitch, but the players do not want to let the situation affect them.

He believes that there is enough quality in the team at the moment to win matches and he wants the fans to remain behind them. He knows that it has been a tough season for anyone connected with Hull City and he wants them to keep believing in the club.

He said that the players know that there are in a relegation battle, but the good news is that there are some other clubs that are in the same situation as them. He said that key is to win matches against the team around them in the table and that the players are ready for the fight.

Michael Dawson said that the team is not playing that poorly and that they are creating chances. He believes that the players need to defend better and also learn how to defend as a team. For him, the major issue is that they are not defending well at the back and they are shipping in far too many goals.

He believes that there is still time for them to move away from the relegation battle and that the players need to believe that they can do it as well and give their best on the pitch.

HULL CITY GET FIRST VICTORY SINCE AUGUST

Hull City get their first victory since August in the game against Southampton courtesy of goals from Robert Snodgrass and Michael Dawson.

Southampton went ahead through striker Charlie Austin after six minutes. Curtis Davies fouled Maya Yoshida and the referee pointed to the spot for Austin to convert. Snodgrass showed his capabilities in coming from the bench to grab the equalizer before setting up Skipper Dawson for the match winner.

Snodgrass – Hull City’s highest goal scorer – was not fit enough to start the game against The Saints due to an issue with his ankle. However, after the early goal and two injuries to Abel Hernandez and Will Keane, the coach of the hosts Mike Phelan sent in Snodgrass. The player went in and transformed the fortunes of the club.

“Most clubs have two or three players who can produce something that’s a bit different. He’s one of them. At the start of the game, he wasn’t ready. Thirty minutes would have been reasonable for him but he managed to find what’s required and showed his quality,” Phelan said after the game, satisfied with the results, which is his first victory since his confirmation as a permanent coach.

Hull was yet to trouble the Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster until when Sam Clucas combined with Ryan Mason on the left to deliver a low cross that the unmarked Snodgrass scored. Snodgrass then sent in a free kick into the box that Dawson sent into the top corner. The goal was a restitution for Dawson who scored an own goal in the tie against Watford the week before.

Southampton manager seemed to blame the loss on fatigue. He said:

“When you win a game like Inter [Milan] and you come back to the league against a team with good preparation, with one game a week. It’s important to keep concentration and a good attitude. But it is always difficult I think we learn for the future.”

After 3 months injured, Dawson is almost back to the pitch

The captain of Hull City, Michael Dawson has not been able to play for around 3 months due to a knee ligament injury which he picked up back in July during Hull City’s encounter against Manfield.

Ever since Dawson sustained that injury, he has been recovering and more recently finishing up in his rehabilitation process and has even managed to get back in the training sessions of his team.

“It’s been a frustrating time for me. When you are in the treatment room, it’s the worst part of being a footballer. It’s difficult at times but you know if you work hard during your rehabilitation period you’ll get your reward. I’ve worked hard to be where I am now. I’m just about ready to return to action. The boys have been magnificent given everything thrown at us during the summer. And I can’t wait to get the kit back on and be involved.” Hull City’s Michael Dawson said as he expressed how difficult it has been for him in recent times with his knee injury.

Hull City’s upcoming Premier League is scheduled to take place on October 15 as they face off with Bournemouth and it’s expected that Michael Dawson will be making his return during this match.

“It’ll be very good to have Michael back. The more players you have back, the better it is for the squad and the team. Michael is a good guy who wants to set foot back in the Premier League and get on with it. He’s been missed but he knows he has to get back into the team now.All being well he’ll be in contention for Bournemouth. If everything goes well with his progression then he should be available.” The head coach of Hull City, Mike Phelan said as he stated that it will be good to have his captain back in the team.

Whether or not Michael Dawson actually does makes his return to the playing grounds during Hull City’s upcoming match against Bournemouth is something that will be seen when the match takes place on October 15 but the important thing is that Dawson is almost fully recovered from his recent injury.

Hull City’s chairman has assured Dawson about new signings

Hull City is going through a fairly exciting moment as the club recently earned a promotion spot back to the Premier League and are now aiming to survive in the top tier English League but this task is going to be very difficult to accomplish, especially taking into consideration the current situation of the club.

During the opening match of this new season, Hull City faced off with the current champions of England, Leicester City and they managed to come out on top with a final scoreboard of 2-1 in favor of the recently promoted Premier League team.

This is an absolutely great start of the season for Hull City and they are hoping to continue adding more victories.

It’s been around 1 month since Hull City has been operating without a head coach as Steve Bruce decided to resign back on June of the ongoing year after revealing his frustration about the lack of transfer activities that the club has been doing.

The chairman of Hull City, AssemAllam has assured the captain Michael Dawson that new signings will be completed before the summer transfer window shuts down at the end of August.

Michael Dawson has revealed information concerning the current situation of Hull City as the captain said: ‘’I hope it changes. I’ve spoken with the chairman and he’s told me players are going to be coming in.We need a squad. After what we did over the last 12 months to get back here, we need to see it and give ourselves a fighting chance of staying up.Steve’s departure did come as a surprise after the summer saying he was going to stay’’

The priority of Hull City right now is to assign a new manager to the squad and later try to secure summer signings and Michael Dawson is hoping that everything does get organized as the captain of the club wants to see his team performing well and getting their things together especially in their return to the Premier League.

Michael Dawson Talks About Steve Bruce

Michael Dawson is the captain of Hull City.

He is adamant that Steve Bruce has a managerial record that should definitely put him on the run for being England’s manager as a new one is being shortlisted at the moment. Michael has been pitching in for Steve in a major way. Being a defender who has played several international games, his point would definitely impact the authorities. He has stressed on the aspect of KCOM stadium’s manager’s capabilities and how he is needed to stay on and help the team to get entitled for Premier League membership.

The chief of Hull Tigers is being touted as a successor for Roy Hodgson by many including Michael Dawson. The Football Association is considering his candidature along with others like Jurgen Klinsmann and Sam Allardyce.

Bruce is definitely up for the task as per Dawson when he reported to the media while at a training camp in Portugal with the Hull team. As per Dawson, there are many things that are going for him like having won four promotions for the Premier League, being English as per his ethnicity and these are some of the several reasons he should get to be considered as the next manager for England. However, if he decides not to go, the Hull City team would definitely need him. When the playoff triumph happened to Hull, Bruce had not decided whether he would be staying and the final decision of staying put was definitely a big thing for him. It has definitely motivated the football club as well as the group. Dawson feels that he being part of Hull City has much to do with Steve being there. Steve as a manager is definitely a big reason for the players who like to be around him.

MICHAEL DAWSON: WE MUST GET THE CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY OFFS

Michael Dawson says Hull City must end the season in great form so they can get Championship play-offs.

Dawson wants Hull to end the regular season on a high against Derby County after defeating Rotherham United, if they are to restore confidence in time for the Championship play-offs.

City’s five-game unbeaten run came to a shuddering halt as they suffered a dismal 1-0 defeat at relegated Bolton Wanderers. Stephen Dobbie’s second-half strike earned the Trotters only a fifth league win of the season and, in the process, drained momentum from a visitor still aspiring for a Premier League return.

Hull City defeated Rotherham to hang on to fourth spot with 83 points from 46 games. Coach Steve Bruce was disappointed with the end of the five-game unbeaten run especially as they were beaten by already relegated Bolton Wanderers.

The player who just returned from injury when the Wanderers defeated Hull said about the play offs:

“That has to be our aim,” said Dawson.

“… Bolton was disappointing and we’ve got to get ready to go again now. People are saying that these games aren’t important, but they are because we want to make sure we finish fourth in the table.

“We already know that we’re playing Derby in the play-offs, but we want to be at home in the second leg and that is what it comes down to now.”
Hull went on to defeat Rotterham United 5-1 in an explosive cracker.

“You have to have that confidence going into the play-offs. Whatever has happened in the previous 46 games, you have to go into the play-offs as confident as you can be because you’re 180 minutes from Wembley and a further 90 from the Premier League,” Dawson added.
Hull face Derby on Saturday in an away match and return to face them again at home three days later in the final round of games.

Hull City defeated at Bolton Wanderers despite Michael Dawson return

Hull City captain Michael Dawson made his return but could not prevent his side from being beaten at relegated Bolton Wanderers.

The defender has already missed 4 games for Hull and was desperate to make his return for the match.
The only goal of the game was scored by Stephen Dobbie in the 65th minute and gave Bolton a rare victory in the league as the match ended 1-0.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce was really upset with the way his team played as he wanted them to show that they have the mentality to win the play-offs. He was disappointed at the pace at which the game was played. For him, some of his players were playing as if it was a friendly game and did not have any urgency in their pass. He wanted to see some more determination in their play so as to create chances.

Bruce admitted that they have produced this kind of performance too often this season, and this is why they are currently where they are in the table. He added that if you want to get promoted you need to be consistent in every game and his team so far has failed to do so.

Hull City did have chances to win the game but failed to do so. Both Snodgrass, as well as Akpom, hit the crossbar when it would have been easier to score. In fact, ChubaAkpom had three or four clear chances and could have easily won the game for Hull, but he was let down by a lack of composure in front of goal.

Michael Dawson could have also celebrated his return to the team with a goal, but his header will be cleared off the line by a Bolton defender.
