Ex-Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson has told manager Jose Mourinho how he can help out young central defender Joe Rodon.
Michael Dawson talked about his former club while he was on BBC Radio 5 Live. According to him,Mourinho needs to find a senior partner for Rodon to help him settle into the Premier League. Rodon signed for Spurs last summer in a big money deal from Welsh club Swansea City. Spurs paid £11m to secure his transfer from the English Championship outfit at the start of the season.
Joe Rodon needs to form a stable centre back partnership according to Michael Dawson. The ex-Hull City and Tottenham Hotspur player believes that the defensive record of the North London club would be better for it if manager Mourinho can get a stable central defensive partnership for his team.
Mourinho and his Spurs players came under serious criticisms last month after they were surprisingly dumped out of the UEFA Europa League by Dinamo Zagreb despite winning their home leg 2-0. In the second leg, the Croatians beat Spurs 3-0 at home at the end of extra time to secure a 3-2 aggregate win over the North Londoners.
The loss to Dinamo Zagreb was on the back of the 2-1 loss to hosts Arsenal in the North London Derby.
Spurs bounced back from the humiliating loss in Zagreb with the 2-0 away win over Aston Villa in the Premier League shortly before the international break last month but they have not been able to build on the impressive win at Villa Park. The North London club lost a 2-1 lead to draw 2-2 against hosts Newcastle United before they were beaten by Manchester United despite taking the lead. The Red Devils scored three goals in the second half to beat Spurs 3-1 away from home.
